Walking into the enormous school for the first time, the boy was excited and nervous to begin his freshman year. He was certain for one thing, this is going to be different from middle school. The transition from middle school to high school is a very big change.

“I think [freshmen year] is pretty fun, honestly, I like everyone I’m in class with, and the teachers are nice,” freshman Cody Dwire said.

The social environment of high school is much different than middle school, some are enjoying their freshman year while others are more fearful.

“It’s scary because a lot of people I haven’t seen in years I see now,” freshman Florencia Chub said.

Others are excited the high school experience.

“I’m perfectly fine with [freshman year], as of now, I think that it’s going to be really fun and interesting,” freshman Keairra Price said.

RHS is a big place, with 3 floors, and many other large areas to the building, which can be overwhelming.

“One of the biggest differences [is] there is a new floor, the high school is a lot bigger,” Dwire said.

Students also have to adapt to meet new people.

“Middle school it’s much smaller than high school. You know everyone who is at the middle school much more than the high school,” Chub said.

Students are exploring through RHS.

“There are a lot of floors and a lot of places to go,” Price said.
