Fall Sports Recap
The fall sports season has come to an end with the Red Devils working hard and earning new accomplishments.
The boys’ tennis team thrived this season. They were in the top 4 of the NCC and won their 35th win in the Sectional Championship, with Senior Mark Brunton and Junior Jackson Cornette being the number one doubles team.
Devilettes were able to regain normalcy this year by performing at every football game. They worked extremely hard to get where they are, especially over the summer. They had a pregame routine and were able to add new sideline dances. They had four officers this year, Senior Iyana Waddell, Brigitte Reynolds, Katherine Freeman, and junior MaKenzie Desonie. The girls’ and boys’ varsity cheerleading team attends all football games, all boy’s basketball games, and they will alternate between junior varsity and themselves to perform at all the Girl’s Basketball games. Seniors Aubrey Uhte and Monica Segura-Miller were both Homecoming candidates.
The girls’ soccer team had a great season and achieved many new accomplishments. They had a new coach, Justin Snider, who led the girls to victory. They started practicing in June which benefited them heavily. They won seven games and tied one out of the eleven they had. They were invited to the Indy Eleven, a professional soccer game. They were also able to play in the Hoosier Cup again this year...
The girls’ golf season couldn’t have been better. They had many accomplishments including winning their fourth consecutive sectional and their second NCC Championship. Senior Estherington advanced to the IHSAA State Finals and received the Mithcel J. Winger Courage award from the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association.
Another boys' soccer season ends in a great way with a 6-5-1 record the whole season after the first round of the Sectionals. The team showed improvement with Darius Hogg and Justin Casanova being named all-NCC boys soccer players and in the second team, Austin Rohe was included.
Boys: The boys' varsity cross country team had a very successful season this year, with a victory. Throughout the season, the boys came up short to Centerville. Alex Orihuela and Ethan Miller, both sophomores, were two of the top runners for the Devils that consistently placed in the top 10. The girls’ varsity volleyball season had an overall record of 20-7. They placed 3rd in the NCC. At a home invite, they went 3-1 and finished 2nd place. The year included a number of historic wins, including victories over Delta and New Castle. Seniors Adrianne Weber, Ashley Clark, Haylee Haskett, JaKaia Lotz, Laurelai DePew, and Lauren Uhte all earned the 2021 Academic All-State Award. ...
The football team qualified for the sectional semifinal after defeating Shelbyville 32-29 for the first round of the IHSAA Sectionals. It had been the first time in three seasons that they had advanced into the Sectionals. Their season ended October 29th as the Red Devils lost 42-36 from Connersville.
