On Tuesday, March 6, 2018, Richmond Athletics made their newest hire, Neal VanMiddlesworth, with seven years of coaching experience.

“I’m excited to work with this group of athletes this season,” VanMiddlesworth said. “Many of these girls I coached when the were younger. I’m familiar with them and know what they’re capable of. I don’t know that I’m any more the right man for the job than anyone else.”

His daughter Payton has played Varsity for the team since her freshman year.

“I do bring a unique experience in that as I’ve followed Payton playing at State, Regional, and National levels,” VanMiddlesworth said. “I’ve been exposed to a lot of great practices and philosophies.”

Neal is preparing for the upcoming season and already beginning the workouts.

“We’ll start parent meetings soon,” he said. “We’ll get with Seniors soon. The girls already play in open gym in Charles, Mondays at 6:00. We’ll emphasize foot skills through February and March. Or work on one v. one skills in April and May. I will try and tie it all together in tactical work June and July.”
