In a game facing Logansport this past Saturday, February 9, senior Ball State commit Lucas Kroft was awarded for scoring his 1,000th point for his high school career. Kroft scored his 1,000th point in a game on January 4 facing New Castle.

Kroft mentions that he has played for three different high schools within the last four years, and two AAU teams.

“I’ve been playing basketball for as long as I can remember,” Kroft said. “I was at Blackhawk Christian my freshman and sophomore years of high school, then I moved to Northside my junior year and now I’m here at Richmond. I have played with Indy Heat out of Indiana and one Nation of Michigan for AAU.”

Though Kroft has displayed a past of movement between different teams, he has already committed to play basketball in college.

“I decided to commit to Ball State because of the coaching staff,” he said. “They really wanted me and it showed, I really like their playing style and they have really nice facilities. They also had what I planned on studying in college, which is construction management.”

Kroft also mentioned that he has now scored over 300 points within the last season.

Though Kroft has not always been a one-sport athlete, he eventually dedicated his time to basketball.

“I’ve always loved basketball and being able to compete,” Kroft said. “I played football but gave it up for basketball because I noticed how bright of a future I could have in basketball and it has always been my favorite sport.”
