The Red Devil Speech Team won a Sectional championship Saturday, March 24, snapping Warren Central’s 16 year Sectional streak. They finished with six individual Sectional champions; Taylor Cruz, Kyleeanne Wood, Justice Lewis, Naomi Carter, Kay Walker, and Emma Socey. Along with these individuals, they have 27 entries heading to the State Tournament. “Having practice every day for sectionals week was a huge bonus, and having a committed assistant coach available each day was also great,” coach Ronnie Swango said. “One huge aspect of preparation that shouldn’t be taken for granted in this was the peer coaching done by our students. Our students, especially the veterans, really stepped up in watching and critiquing each other’s performances and preparing one another for this big day.” The speech team and the 27 students will head to State in Fishers on March 10th.
